HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon woman accused of killing a pregnant woman from Maryland last year and cutting the unborn child from her womb has pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated murder.

Korena Roberts was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The body of 21-year-old Heather Snively was found in the crawl space of Roberts’ home in June 2009 after Roberts’ boyfriend called 911.

Prosecutors say Roberts bludgeoned Snively in the bathroom and then used a sharp instrument to cut the unborn baby from Snively’s abdomen. The baby was due in a month.

For months before the killing, Roberts told neighbors that was she was pregnant.

Snively had moved to Oregon from Maryland to be with her fiance.
