NEW DELHI (AP) — A Ugandan diplomat says three of the country’s officials were injured when their car hit a road barrier while entering the Commonwealth Games village.

Dora Kutesan says the officials were thrown around in their vehicle as it braked sharply after being hit by a sharp-edged barrier that rose suddenly from the ground on Tuesday night.

The officials, including the Ugandan chef de mission William Tumwine, sustained injuries including cuts on the head and were taken to a hospital for treatment, Kutesan told The Associated Press on Thursday.

“They were discharged from hospital on Wednesday after they were kept under observation for a day. They are still feeling pain, but are OK,” she said.
