FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Patriots coach Bill Belichick says he never had an incident or discipline problem with Randy Moss in the receiver’s three-plus seasons with the team.

Belichick did send Moss and three other players home once last season when they reported late for practice but said Thursday that Moss was a pleasure to coach and trading him was a difficult decision. He also said also said the deal had nothing to do with contract issues. Moss has said several times he didn’t think New England would re-sign him for next season.

The Patriots sent Moss and a seventh-round draft pick in 2012 to the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday for a third-round pick next year.

Belichick said a combination of factors led to the trade. He didn’t identify them but said he had confidence in his remaining players to win games.
