OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Elections Division says Oregon City’s city manager, David Frasher, broke state election laws last year while he was city manager of Grants Pass.
The Oregonian reports that Frasher faces a $175 civil penalty. The Grants Pass police chief and the current city manager each face $75 penalties.
The division ruled last week that Frasher advocated for the passage of a ballot measure to renew a police and fire service levy. Public officials are permitted to provide impartial information about election issues but can’t become advocates.
Frasher tells The Oregon that he did not knowingly violate the law, but if he did, he’s sorry.
