PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Freshman Chas Dodd has been given the starting assignment at quarterback for Rutgers against Connecticut.

Regular starter Tom Savage hurt his right hand in a loss to Tulane last Sunday. Scarlet Knights coach Greg Schiano has said all week that he would make a decision on his starter before the game started on Friday night.

Dodd probably won’t see all the action because Rutgers uses receiver Mohamed Sanu in the wildcat formation.
