Vancouver police late Thursday night were engaged in a high-speed vehicle pursuit into Portland, of a driver who was believed to have been caught there minutes later.

About 11 p.m. Thursday, an officer radioed that he was pursuing a car whose driver was believed to be armed with a gun and dangerous. The car being chased also was stolen, officers said later.

A minute later, the officer said the car was doing 70 mph on the Interstate 5 Bridge, nearly hit another southbound vehicle and took an exit at Rosa Park in Portland.

The chase continued around that area as Portland officers took over.

A Clark County 911 dispatcher said later that she believed no one was injured and the suspect had been caught.
