MILFORD, Conn. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Scott Brown says Connecticut voters can make history and shake up the Democratic establishment, just like when was elected in Massachusetts, if they send Linda McMahon to Washington.
Brown rallied support Saturday for McMahon, a Republican newcomer best known as the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment.
Several hundred people attended the rally outside Milford City Hall. The crowd included many tea party activists who say McMahon, not her Democratic opponent Richard Blumenthal, will fight for fiscal conservatives if she’s elected to replace U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd.
Dodd, a Democrat, is retiring.
Brown rode a wave of voter anger when he beat Democrat Martha Coakley in January to succeed the late Edward Kennedy.
Brown also campaigned for Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley earlier Saturday.
