Ashley Walden wins 9th USA Luge Start title

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) — Ashley Walden won her ninth USA Luge Start Championship on Saturday, while Chris Mazdzer took the men’s title and Matt Mortensen and Preston Griffall won the doubles crown.

Walden, from Westborough, Mass., had a two-heat time of 3.588 seconds.

Mazdzer, from Saranac Lake, finished in 3.432, and Mortensen of Huntington Station and Preston Griffall of Salt Lake City successfully defended their title at 3.474.
