CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Carolina rookie receiver Armanti Edwards is on the active roster for the first time this season as the Panthers seek to make up for Steve Smith’s absence.
Smith was out Sunday against Chicago with a sprained ankle. Edwards is a converted college quarterback who took some snaps in the wildcat formation in the preseason.
Todd Collins started at quarterback for the Bears with Jay Cutler sidelined with a concussion.
Chicago rookie defensive end Corey Wootton was active for the first time with Charles Grant deactivated. Bears tight end Desmond Clark was again inactive.
