LYNNWOOD, Wash. (AP) — Lynnwood firefighters are looking a little rosy this month.

They’re donning pink shirts to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Firefighter and paramedic Christine McCroskey says they’re using the shirts as icebreakers to get people talking about breast cancer and early detection.

They’re raising funds for the effort by selling similar shirts to the public. McCroskey says last year the department raised more than $2,500.

She says several fire departments from around western Washington already have expressed interest in getting their own pink shirts.
