CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Browns have re-signed quarterback Brett Ratliff, giving them two healthy QBs for this week’s game in Pittsburgh.

The Browns were desperate for a quarterback with both Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace out with severe ankle sprains. Ratliff spent all of last season with the Browns, who waived him on Sept. 4. Most recently, he was on New England’s practice squad.

Ratliff is expected to back up rookie Colt McCoy on Sunday against the Steelers.

Coach Eric Mangini has not announced McCoy as his starter, but said on Monday that he felt the third-round draft pick and former Texas star was ready for the opportunity.

The Browns also terminated the contract of wide receiver Sam Aiken.
