SEATTLE (AP) — Police say nearly three-quarters of the 100 purse snatches and necklace grabs in south Seattle in the past year have occurred near bus stops and light rail stations.

Det. Brad Craig told KING-TV robbers tend to target elderly Asian women who appear vulnerable. Police have made a few arrests at stakeouts.

Metro says transit police are making emphasis patrols with Seattle police. Sound Transit says it has armed officers patrolling the rail line.
