ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — The coach of Turkish basketball team Besiktas Cola Turka hopes to finalize negotiations with former NBA scoring champion Allen Iverson soon.

Burak Biyiktay says Tuesday the Istanbul club has offered a contract to Iverson’s manager for a one-year stint in Turkey.

Biyiktay says the former NBA MVP would bring a “new vision to the team.” He says “Iverson is a great trademark and would be the biggest name to come to Turkey.”

Gary Moore, Iverson’s personal manager, has said there is strong interest from both sides to work out a deal that would send the 11-time All-Star overseas.

Iverson is 17th on the NBA’s career scoring list with 24,368 points over a 14-year career.
