TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Mississippi defensive tackle Jerrell Powe says Alabama’s offense got “exposed” as a one-dimensional team.

He says South Carolina forced the eighth-ranked Crimson Tide away from relying on tailbacks Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson and “really couldn’t get anything going” after that.

The Rebels would like to execute the same strategy in Saturday night’s game.

Alabama had to resort to passing after the Gamecocks jumped out to an early lead. Ingram was held to 41 yards on 11 carries. And Richardson didn’t even see that much action, logging six runs for 23 yards.

Tide coach Nick Saban says the priority was trying to catch up not make sure his star backs got their carries. That might be a bigger priority if injured receiver Julio Jones can’t play.
