SEATTLE (AP) — Gov. Chris Gregoire is leading a tour of Puget Sound to highlight restoration projects.

She’s making five stops in three counties, including Mason, Thurston and Pierce.

Gregoire begins Friday in Belfair at a new wastewater treatment facility. She’ll end the day with a boat tour of Tacoma’s Commencement Bay.

The governor will be traveling with U.S. Congressman Norm Dicks and other officials.

Gregoire has made it a state priority to clean up Puget Sound by 2020. Stormwater runoff, development and toxic pollutants threaten the sound’s health.

Officials say more than $460 million have been spent since 2008 to help restore marshes, improve fish habitat and recover ailing wildlife.
