Illinois State outlasts North Dakota State 34-24

NORMAL, Ill. (AP) — Matt Brown threw three touchdown passes and Ashton Leggett ran for 146 yards and a score as Illinois State defeated North Dakota State 34-24 on Saturday.

Leggett also caught three passes for 61 yards and a touchdown, and Erik Smith added 113 rushing yards for the Redbirds (4-3, 3-2 Missouri Valley).

D.J. McNorton led the Bison (4-3, 2-2) with 133 yards and a touchdown.

Brown had TD passes of 25, 5 and 49 yards, the last of which went to Leggett with 2:59 to play, capping an 11-play, 89-yard drive and giving the Redbirds the final points of the game.

E.J. Jones then came up with his second interception of the game to secure the victory.
