SEATTLE (AP) — The state Department of Transportation says a $1.3 million grant from the Federal Highway Administration will fund a new paint coat for one of the state’s ferries.

The department’s ferry division says ferry vessels need to be painted every seven years to protect them from corrosive salt water.

Officials haven’t decided which of the state’s 21 vessels will get the paint coat.
