CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bears held Pro Bowl linebacker Lance Briggs out of Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks because of a left ankle injury.

The five-time Pro Bowl player did not practice during the week after being injured in the second half of a 23-6 win at Carolina. Brian Iwuh started in his place.

Briggs also sprained his right ankle in preseason. Todd Collins, who threw four interceptions last week while Jay Cutler sat out with a concussion, was listed as the third quarterback, with Caleb Hanie as the backup behind Jay Cutler.

The Seahawks held out defensive tackle Brandon Mebane because of a calf injury, with Kentwan Balmer getting the start.
