An armed man fled a Subway sandwich shop with an undisclosed amount of money after he walked behind the counter and flashed a gun, according to a bulletin issued by the Vancouver Police Department.

The man wore a black bandana over his face when he entered the Subway restaurant located in the 1900 block of Northeast 162nd Avenue at about 9:55 p.m. He was about 5-feet, 5-inches with a thin-to-medium build. Described as a black man, in his 20s, he wore a dark hooded sweatshirt.

The gun was a small, silver semiautomatic pistol. The suspect walked behind the counter where he displayed the gun, and demanded an employee open the register and a safe.

It was not clear whether the man left in a vehicle or on foot. A K-9 unit unsuccessfully searched for the suspect.

A photo of the man was not immediately available.
