SEATTLE (AP) — A new passenger-only ferry service on Puget Sound started Monday, connecting Kingston in north Kitsap County with downtown Seattle.

The Port of Kingston has two vessels on its SoundRunner service, each carrying up to 147 walk-on passengers. It’s a $7.50 fare for a 45-minute crossing.

The port plans two runs on weekday mornings and two in the evening for commuters. Weekend service and additional daily runs may be added depending on ridership.

Kingston also is served by a Washington state car ferry from Edmonds.
