CLEVELAND (AP) — One week after he accepted Cleveland’s coaching job, Byron Scott suffered his first loss with the Cavaliers. It was a biggie.
When LeBron James announced that he was leaving for Miami, the Cavs were left without a superstar and any realistic chance of winning an NBA championship. Scott was distraught and disappointed — for five minutes.
Now, the former New Jersey and New Orleans coach has a new project. Experts believe the Cavs, who won more than 60 games the past two seasons but came up short of a title despite having James, the two-time MVP, will fall way back in the standings.
Not Scott, who plans to use an uptempo offense to keep Cleveland in the running for a playoff spot.
