ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — For someone who made interceptions look easy last season, Buffalo Bills safety Jairus Byrd isn’t happy with his lack of production.
Zero is not an acceptable number for a player whose nine interceptions — as a rookie, no less — last season earned him a Pro Bowl selection and a share of the league lead.
Overall, Buffalo’s one interception ranks last a season after finishing second in the NFL with 28.
Byrd shoulders the blame, saying he needs to do better as the Bills (0-5) come out of their bye week to play at Baltimore (4-2) on Sunday.
Linebacker Andra Davis came to Byrd’s defense, saying the blame belongs on him and the defensive front seven for their inability to stop the run or generate a pass rush.
