76ers pick up options on Holiday, Speights

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia 76ers have exercised their third-year option on guard Jrue Holiday and the fourth-year option on forward Marreese Speights, putting both players under contract through the 2011-12 season.

Holiday was the 17th overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft and the youngest player in the league last season. He averaged 8.0 points and 3.8 assists in 73 games.

Speights, the 16th overall pick in the 2008 draft, has averaged 8.1 points and 3.9 rebounds in 141 games.

The Sixers also waived forward/center Trent Plaisted and guard Chris Quinn, leaving their roster at 14 players.
