SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A man has been arrested after trying to rob a Spokane bank by phoning in a threat that unless he received $10,000 he would blow up five Spokane elementary schools.

The man was quickly arrested by police, who are recommending six felony charges against 37-year-old Donnell L. Winston for the Oct. 14 threat to Inland Northwest Bank. No bombs were found at schools.

Police say Winston was arrested when he showed up at what was to be the cash drop.

Winston had been convicted of bank robbery in 2004 and was out on probation.
