ROSEVILLE, Calif. (AP) — A regional mall just outside Sacramento was ablaze after police arrested a man who had barricaded himself inside.

Local television images showed large clouds of thick, black smoke billowing from the roof near a Macy’s store. The mall had been evacuated earlier in the day after a man barricaded himself inside a shop and started a fire.

Authorities had thought the mall’s sprinkler system had doused the blazed.

Roseville city spokeswoman Vonette McCauley says firefighters are “positioned to get in there right now.”

There were no immediate reports of injuries. The mall had been evacuated after the man started the fire.
