Prep football Week 8: Camas vs. Fort Vancouver

The Columbian
Published: October 21, 2010, 12:00am

When, where: 5 p.m. Friday at Kiggins Bowl

Records: Camas (7-0, 4-0); Fort Vancouver (2-5, 0-4); 3A GSHL game.

Game notes: A season that started with such promise and thoughts of a winning record or playoff berth has deteriorated into disappointment for Fort. … The Trappers have lost four games in a row, but their late-game drive against River last week shows they haven’t lost their will to battle. … Camas jumped out to 31-0 lead on Heritage before winning 34-15 last week. … Camas QB Logan Grindy has passed for 1,321 yards and has thrown at least one TD pass in each of the Papermakers’ games this season. … Camas RB Zack Marshall rushed for 138 yards last week. … Fort RB Abdul Conteh rushed for 131 yards against River, which included a 70-yard TD run. … Camas will clinch a share of the league title with a win. … The Papermakers will clinch the No. 1 seed to the state preliminary playoffs with a win and a Kelso loss.

The Columbian’s take: The closest game Camas has played this season is a 27-14 win over Mountain View. This one doesn’t figure to be closer. PICK: Camas
