EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — A former corrections officer at the Washington State Reformatory in Monroe has been arrested for allegedly having sex with an inmate while on duty.

The Daily Herald reports that 39-year-old Danette Skelton, of Stanwood, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail Wednesday for investigation of custodial sexual misconduct. An Everett District Court judge on Thursday released her on her own recognizance and ordered her to have no contact with the man.

Under state law, it is a felony for corrections officers to have sex with inmates.

Court records say Skelton resigned her prison job following a Department of Corrections investigation in 2009.
