SEATTLE (AP) — The National Weather Service says a powerful storm will hit Western Washington late this weekend.

The storm due Saturday night will produce heavy rain and strong winds, especially on the coast. Ocean swells of 35 to 30 feet which could cause some coastal flooding. Beaches and headlands near the mouth of the Columbia may see wind gusts of up to 75 mph early Sunday.

The North Cascades could receive the first significant snowfall of the season on Sunday in the higher elevations, with 3 to 5 inches possible.

The weather service says the storm should taper off by Monday, with mostly clouds and rainy weather expected into next week.
