Richmond forces 4 TOs to beat Towson 28-6

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Kendall Gaskins ran for 100 yards and a touchdown while Jovan Smith added 76 yards on the ground and a score as Richmond defeated Towson 28-6 in Colonial Athletic Association play on Saturday.

Smith scored with 6:10 left in the opening quarter on a 7-yard run to put the Spiders (4-3, 2-2) in front 6-0 after a blocked extra point attempt.

Eric McBride recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff for Richmond as the Spiders took over at the Towson 14-yard line.

Richmond took a 12-0 lead after a 3-yard touchdown pass from Montel White to Kevin Finney and another missed extra point attempt.

Wil Kamin hit field goals from 45, 39 and 30 yards out to extend the Richmond lead to 21-0 with 4:54 left in the third.

The Tigers (1-6, 0-4) finally got on the board after a 5-yard touchdown run by Tremayne Dameron made the score 21-6 after a failed two-point conversion.
