DENVER (AP) — Colorado Avalanche captain Adam Foote will not accompany the team on its two-game trip through Canada.

The defenseman has been sidelined since suffering a head injury in the first period against San Jose last Thursday. It wasn’t clear how he was hurt.

Colorado may have defenseman Scott Hannan back after he twisted his neck in the second period of a loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.

Hannan made it through practice Monday, which coach Joe Sacco said was “encouraging.” Hannan will be evaluated before the game Tuesday night in Vancouver to see if he’s ready.

The Avalanche will rest Craig Anderson against the Canucks, starting backup Peter Budaj in net. Anderson has started the last five games.
