Amboy man dies of injuries suffered in crash

A 27-year-old Amboy man injured in a crash on Oct. 16 died Sunday evening.

H. Sloan Blanchard was being treated at Southwest Washington Medical Center, where officials on Monday confirmed his death.

Authorities have said the accident happened about 8:38 p.m. Oct. 16 on Northeast Cedar Creek Road near Pup Creek Road. A caller told a 911 dispatcher that a car struck a tree in the 15000 block of Cedar Creek Road and an occupant was trapped.

Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy James Payne arrived to find a passenger with extensive injuries pinned in an older model Cadillac. The driver had left on foot, police said.

Deputies later found the driver, Jason Graham, 36, of Vancouver at a hospital. He was arrested for suspicion of vehicular assault, felony hit and run and outstanding warrants. Graham could be charged with vehicular homicide.

The Clark County Sheriff’s -Office Traffic Homicide Unit is -investigating.

A contribution account in Blanchard’s name for his family will be set up at any branch of Key Bank, a family member said. Further details weren’t immediately available.
