ACAPULCO, Mexico (AP) — IOC President Jacques Rogge is urging FIFA to follow the same strong measures against corruption in World Cup bidding as the Olympic body took following the Salt Lake City scandal.

Rogge says FIFA President Sepp Blatter called him to discuss the allegations of vote-selling and collusion in the race for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. Rogge says he encouraged him “to do exactly what he has done and try to clean out as much as possible.”

Rogge says the International Olympic Committee came out stronger after ousting 10 members who were accused of accepting cash and other inducements from Salt Lake City bidders.
