Man fatally shot in downtown Seattle

SEATTLE (AP) — Police say a 31-year-old man who was shot in the head in downtown Seattle has died.

Police spokesman Jeff Kappel said police arrested a 27-year-old man shortly after the Tuesday afternoon shooting. Neither man was immediately identified.

The arrested man was located about a block from the shooting scene at Second Avenue and Pike Street. Officers also recovered a handgun.

Kappel tells The Seattle Times the man will be booked into jail for investigation of murder. No motive for the shooting was immediately apparent.

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he died.
