PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Intelligence officials say a pair of suspected U.S. missile strikes have killed five people in northwestern Pakistan near the Afghan border.

The officials say the first strike occurred early Wednesday morning when a drone fired a missile at a house in the Spin Wam area of the North Waziristan tribal region, killing two people.

They say the second attack took place in the early afternoon when a drone fired a missile at a vehicle in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan, killing three suspected militants.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.
