CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (AP) — Defensive back Chris L. Rucker has traveled with No. 5 Michigan State to Iowa for its game against the 18th-ranked Hawkeyes.

The school hasn’t announced whether he will play Saturday.

Rucker was reinstated to the team Thursday after missing two games and serving eight days in jail for a probation violation following what was initially a drunken driving charge. He pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of reckless driving.

Spartans coach Mark Dantonio said Rucker paid team and legal consequences for his poor decision, adding he didn’t deserve a lifetime banishment from the program.

Rucker was sentenced to 12 months of probation and 150 hours of community service for assault last year for his role in a fight on campus.
