Gitchee Goomie wins Belmont’s Topicount Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) — Gitchee Goomie held off Martita Sangrita by a nose Friday in the $70,000 Topicount Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on the turf at Belmont Park.

Alan Garcia rode for trainer Rick Violette as Gitchee Goomie got her second win in seven starts. The time was 1:49.45 for the 1 1-8 miles on the course rated good.

Gitchee Goomie paid $12.40, $5.30 and $3.70. Martita Sangrita and Senada, the 2-3 finishers, were coupled in the wagering, returning $8.90 and $8.40.
