MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A woman has been indicted on a murder charge in the shooting death of a former Medford police officer.

The Mail Tribune reported that 45-year-old Charlene Meixner was indicted Thursday by a Jackson County grand jury in the Oct. 20 death of 61-year-old Ray Glen Leach.

Police were called to Leach’s home in August during a domestic dispute and a .38-caliber handgun was taken from Meixner. The gun was later returned.

Meixner also faces three lesser charges of manslaughter.

A prosecutor said he could not discuss the facts or evidence that led to the murder charge. Police have declined to discuss a motive in the case.
