CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Joshua Jones’ 25-yard interception return broke a fourth-quarter tie and A.J. Harris carried 31 times for 163 yards and four touchdowns as Elon beat Chattanooga 49-35 on Saturday.

Jones’ interception was one of five by the Phoenix (3-5, 2-3 Southern Conference) against Chattanooga’s B.J. Coleman. Three led to touchdowns.

Coleman, who was 33-for-63 for 386 yards, threw three of his five touchdown passes in the second half, when the Mocs (5-3, 4-2) rallied for a 35-35 tie.

Harris had three of his four touchdown runs in the first half to help Elon lead 35-14.

After Jones’ interception return put Elon ahead 42-35 with 13:13 left, Blake Thompson intercepted Coleman on the Mocs’ next scrimmage play and returned it 37 yards to the Chattanooga 5. Harris scored from 1 yard out two plays later.

Elon’s Scott Riddle was 21-for-29 passing for 260 yards and two touchdowns.
