Eastern Illinois ends 10-game slide with 28-10 win

CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) — Jimmy Garoppolo threw two touchdown passes to Chris Wright as Eastern Illinois ended its 10-game losing streak with a 28-10 victory over Austin Peay on Saturday.

Garoppolo finished 12 of 22 for 219 yards and three TDs and Wright had 91 receiving yards for the Panthers (1-8, 1-6 Ohio Valley), whose last win came nearly a year ago, Nov. 14 over Tennessee Martin, 49-13.

Terrence Holt ran for 130 yards and a score and Ryan White added 107 rushing yards for the Governors (2-6, 1-4), who have dropped five in a row.

Eastern Illinois scored 21 points in the second quarter on a 5-yard run by Mon Williams and TD passes of 52 and 39 yards from Garoppolo to Wright. Garoppolo added a 5-yard TD pass to Keagan Robinson in the fourth.
