YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Tirrell Rennie rushed for two touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 2:08 left, and passed for another as Northern Iowa outlasted Youngstown State 34-30 Saturday.

The lead changed five times, with Northern Iowa (5-3, 4-1 Missouri Valley Conference) trailing 14-3 early in the second quarter after Youngstown State’s Kurt Hess threw touchdown passes of 33 and 71 yards.

The Panthers tied the game at 17 with 5:32 left in the third on Rennie’s 29-yard TD run and took the lead on Billy Hallgren’s 32-yard field goal.

The teams then traded scores, although the Penguins’ extra-point attempt failed.

Jamaine Cook put Youngstown State ahead with a 39-yard run with 2:27 remaining.

Carlos Anderson returned the ensuing kickoff 57 yards to the Penguins’ 19 and Rennie scored from there.

Youngstown State (3-6, 1-5) then turned the ball over on downs at its own 26.
