PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A drunken driver who flipped a pickup truck on I-405 in Portland and killed a homeless man sleeping under a bridge has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison.

The Oregonian reports 23-year-old Alvaro Lugos-Ponce had a blood alcohol level of .18 at the time of the May 13 accident that killed 53-year-old Albert Lloyd Rowland.

Lugos-Ponce had pleaded guilty to drunken driving, manslaughter and assault and was sentenced Tuesday in Multnomah County Circuit Court.

The Downtown Chapel Roman Catholic Parish plans to remember Rowland at a Thursday evening art exhibit with music and stories.
