LONDON (AP) — Britain’s anti-doping agency has agreed to share information with government agencies to help stop the supply and trafficking of prohibited substances.

The memorandum of understanding was signed with The Serious Organized Crime Agency — Britain’s version of the FBI — and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, which identifies unsafe products.

UK Anti-Doping chief executive Andy Parkinson says the agreement will “strengthen our ability to tackle the supply chain of doping-related substances and intensify our activities in the global fight against doping in sport.”

SOCA director general Trevor Pearce added that the information sharing will not only help them target traffickers but “will also protect athletes.”
