La Center Wildcats

2009 record: 6-4 (4-1 1A Trico), lost to Montesano in district playoffs.

Coach: John Lambert, 12th year.

Key players: Seth Baxter, sr., rb/lb; Nick Deotsch, sr., qb/lb; Brody Hollingshead, sr., te/de; Ryan Kulla, sr., rb/cb; Robert Kupfer, jr., ol/lb; Chris Mayolo, sr., rb/lb; Colbe Neuberger, sr., ol/dl; Curtis Nye, sr., rb/cb; Zachary Olivera, sr., te/cb.

Team outlook: With 13 seniors, La Center returns the nucleus of the team that shared the 2009 Trico League title with Castle Rock. There are five talented running backs for three positions, giving the team unusual depth for a 1A school. The Trico could be a balanced, competitive league this season, but La Center should have little trouble earning one of the four district playoff spots. If healthy, the Wildcats’ 2010 playoff experience could go much longer.
