SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A Marion County Jail inmate has been charged with second-degree manslaughter and witness tampering in the July 19 death of a fellow inmate.

A grand jury indicted 30-year-old Robert Steven Dailey this week in the death of 29-year-old Robert D. Haws, who suffered fatal head injuries during a July 13 fight in the recreation yard of the jail’s minimum-security cellblock. Haws was taken to Salem Hospital, where he later died.

Dailey was arraigned Friday. The court appointed R. Brooke Holsted to represent him.
