PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Saturday marks three months since Kyron Horman vanished from his Portland school, and three days until classes resume on Tuesday.

His father, Kaine Horman, is acting as if Kyron will back in time for the start of school.

He told the Oregonian newspaper that he’s signed the boy up for soccer, bought him a backpack and stuffed it with school supplies. Bus passes and a schedule are handy.

During a summer-long search, law enforcement officers have focused their attention on the boy’s stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman, but they have made no arrests.

Kaine has asked for a divorce from Terri.

The boy’s eighth birthday is Thursday.
