MIAMI (AP) — Right-hander Adalberto Mendez has joined the Florida Marlins and will make his major league debut when he starts in the first game of a doubleheader Monday at Philadelphia.

On Saturday, the Marlins selected the contracts of Mendez and catcher Mike Rivera from Triple-A New Orleans.

Mendez has been in the minors since 2003. He went 5-4 with a 4.14 ERA in 28 games at Triple-A. Rivera, a seven-year major-league veteran, has played for the Brewers, Tigers and Padres.

Right-hander Ricky Nolasco (knee) and infielder Donnie Murphy (wrist), who earlier were ruled out for the rest of the season, went on the 60-day disabled list.
