TORONTO (AP) — A fan at the Toronto Blue Jays’ game is OK after being struck by a falling metal letter from a sign honoring Jackie Robinson.
The middle-aged man was hit in the right shoulder Monday in the seventh inning of the game between Texas and Toronto at Rogers Centre. He was treated with ice packs and returned to his seat.
The accident occurred when a foul ball by major league home run leader Jose Bautista hit the sign on the facing of the third deck behind home plate.
The letter “B” from Robinson’s name fell about 30 feet. The injured fan only gave his first name as Ian, and said he was a season-ticket holder from Toronto.
