PHOENIX (AP) — The Pac-10 has always been known as the quarterback conference, churning out stars such as John Elway, Troy Aikman and Drew Bledsoe.

After a few down years under center, the Pac is back.

Led by four potential first-round NFL draft picks, the Pac-10 is loaded with high-caliber quarterbacks again.

The top of the heap is Washington senior Jake Locker, a Heisman Trophy candidate projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s NFL draft. Stanford sophomore Andrew Luck also has been mentioned as a high draft pick, and Nick Foles of Arizona and USC’s Matt Barkley are highly touted.

It’s not just the big-name guys, either; the conference is as solid top to bottom as it’s ever been.
