Ore. man crashes at restaurant after heart attack

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A man who suffered a fatal heart attack while driving crashed his car into a restaurant in Salem.

Police said 62-year-old Harvey Firestone was driving a sport utility vehicle Wednesday afternoon when it crossed lanes and crashed into the front of Kuong Chan’s Chinese Restaurant.

Police told the Statesman Journal that witnesses said Firestone was slumped over the wheel when his vehicle crossed the road.

Doctors at Salem Hospital told police a heart attack likely caused his death.

The restaurant was previously damaged when a van crashed into its entryway in July 2009.
