GIG HARBOR, Wash. (AP) — Some of the rabbits that have overrun the campus of the University of Victoria are now nibbling carrots at the Rabbit Haven shelter near Gig Harbor.
Volunteers are saving hundreds of rabbits the Canadian university planned to kill. It already killed about 100 rabbits trapped in May.
The News Tribune of Tacoma reports as many as 1,000 rabbits will be moved through the Gig Harbor shelter to the Wild Rose Rescue Ranch at Whitehouse, Texas.
